The following activities / tasks are part of our component 2

Create baseline spatial and socioeconomic data repository at the regional and city scale;

Data extraction and collection from Earth Observation satellite data to be used for climate change and disaster risk assessment;

Procurement and collection of all required datasets as per agreed specifications;

Process and ortho-rectify acquired EO Satellite ;

Process acquired DTM and extract contours and spot height to complement existing topographical map features extracted from the 1:50000 maps. Generate tiled map caches for these DTMs;

Prepare (updated) land use maps of 3 cities (Vinh Yen, Ha Giang, and Hue) as per approach outlined in section 1.3 using the acquired high resolution EO satellite data, the existing topographic and land maps. Perform field verification and ground truthing and where required improve the land use datasets;

Compile and integrate collected data in agreed GIS Data structure including required metadata and perform data consistency and topology checks. Prepare datasets for publication on GIS server;

Select, harmonize and integrate relevant datasets from Bangladesh in the agreed GIS data structure and perform data consistency and topology checks. Prepare datasets for publication on GIS server;

Support International Knowledge partners with the harvesting of freely available (time series) EO satellite data for their region scale land use mapping effort and provide technical support and input for the specifications for this as well. Fine-tune field verification and ground truthing efforts so that field trips can be combined and limited with our effort for field verification and ground truthing;
